Day 1
Depart from the UK on an overnight flight.
Day 2
Transfer through Bangkok, heading to Hanoi. You afternoon is left at leisure, to recuperate after the long international flights. Spend the evening on a 'Hanoi By Night' tour to see the water puppets and have a meal in a nice restaurant.
Day 3
Full day city tour, featuring (amongst others) Ho Chi Minh's former home and Mausoleum, the Temple of Literature, the Fine Arts Museum, Woman's History Museum and The Old Quarter.
Day 4
Road transfer east to Halong City, where you will board your traditional Vietnamese junk for an afternoon / overnight cruise around Halong Bay.
Day 5
Wake up to see sunrise over the bay and then continue cruising before disembarking around midday. Fly down to heading on to Danang and transfer to Hoi An in Central Vietnam.
Day 6
In the morning cycle in the countryside surrounding the town. In the afternoon explore Hoi An at your own pace.
Day 7
Head north to the imperial capital of Hue, stopping en route at the excellent Cham Museum in Danang. The road from Danang is one of the most scenic drives in the country, ascending over the Hai Van Pass. After checking in to our hotel overlooking the Perfume River the remainder of the day is at leisure to explore.
Day 8
A morning exploration of the huge Citadel, then a cyclo tour through the Old Town, and a boat ride up the Perfume River to the Thien Mu Pagoda. The afternoon is then yours to further explore.
Day 9
Flight down to Saigon and afternoon city tour, taking in the Cu Chi Tunnels en route to the city from the airport. Afternoon city tour - Opera House, the former Presidential Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, Benh Thanh Market and Dong Khoi Street and Cholon (China town).
Day 10
Full day excursion to the Mekong Delta, where you board a small sampan in Cai Be and sail downriver past mountains of coconuts and heavily-laden rice barges to the a local restaurant, where we stop for lunch. After lunch explore the local villages and fruit orchards on foot or by bike, seeing local handicrafts and cottage industries, before returning to Saigon in the late afternoon.
Day 11
Flight to Siem Reap and afternoon exploration of the temples. Ensure you are at Angkor Wat itself for sunset.
Day 12
Full day around the temples of Angkor – breaking the day with some time back in Siem Reap.
Day 13
Morning excursion to Tonle Sap Lake and afternoon provides opportunity to explore the Angkor complex further or simply relax in your hotel. It is also well worth visiting the charity land-mine museum.
Day 14
Fly to Phnom Penh, the Cambodian capital. Afternoon city tour, focussing on the Royal Palace and the S21 and Killing Fields.
Day 15
Final day in Phnom Penh, before evening flights to Bangkok and transfer through to the UK.
